Robert Talbott ‘Best of Class’ Woven Silk Tie

Posted by Martin Balerdi On October - 7 - 2009

I love this tie by Robert Talbott. This is such a great-looking tie, I just can’t get over it. It has an amazingly detailed and intricate design which done feel overdone and it’s all done a richly textured silk tie. This is a tie that will have you turning heads when you walk done the hallway or as you float through a crowd of people. The color combination are pleasing and blend together very well.  The quality is top notch, you can really see the detail on the embossed flower-like designs. This is one tie I would just about any chance I got.

You can get the tie in either madder blue(featured above) or in navy green. I personally prefer the madder blue, but that just might be because I enjoy the pairing of warm colors on blue better than I do on green. The tie has an approximate width of 3 1/2 in. and a length of 58 in. It’s made in the US from imported fabrics. Keep in mind that it is silk and has to be dry cleaned. It would be a shame to ruin such a great tie.

Façonnable Stretch Corduroy Pants

Posted by Martin Balerdi On October - 7 - 2009

Faconnable has combined luxury and practicality in their stretch corduroy pants. Known for their beginnings as a master tailor shop, it shows in the simple, but elegant designs of these pants. They are classically styled and designed for comfort. I also have a fondness for corduroy pants, they really help change up the monotony of a closet full of slacks and blue jeans. They are a great choice for any casual gathering and in the cooler months can easily be paired with a nice looking sweater or nice looking jacket. They can also be paired with a good-looking t-shirt for warm days. I love wearing corduroys to parties and other social gatherings, they usually are comfortable enough that it takes no effort to unwind.

I really like the selection of neutral colors Faconnable has  going on; the corduroys come in black, chocolate, and dark beige(featured above). I do wish they had a pair in dark blue, but I’ll settle for the beige ones. All the colors are pretty versatile and can be paired with variety of different clothes. The pants have a zip fly with button-tab and hook-and-bar closures. The pockets are slant pockets with an on-seam coin pocket and back button-closure welt pockets. It is a cotton/spandex blend so they are dry clean. These are a stretch I think I am willing to make.

D&G Fairisle-Print Sweater

Posted by Martin Balerdi On October - 5 - 2009

Autumn is upon us and it is the time of year that we start covering up for the impending temperature drops. Now you can dig up all your old mothball-infused sweaters out of the back of your closets and the bottom of your storage boxes, or you can give yourself an early little  Yuletide goodie in this great woolen masterpiece. This Fairisle-Print sweater is an eyeful of intricate designs immortalized in soft, warm wool. I love fairisle patterns, they always remind me of  Cosby sweaters and this one in particular seems to be an enchanting mixture of navajo patterns and arabic mosaics. The colors are bright and cheery, something I would normally shy away from in the cooler seasons, but I just can’t say no to this sweater. NMN0HJY_mp

I really enjoy the v-neck on this piece, it really makes this sweater a little more hip and sexy. This sweater is a great choice for early spring and fall, when the weather is just beginning to cool. I would layer it with a nice solid colored long-sleeve collar shirt and some dark khakis. I would avoid covering this up with a vest or jacket just because I wouldn’t want to cover up the great print design. This sweater is  a great investment for the casual wardrobe, it catches the eye and keeps its focus squarely on it.

Rag & Bone distressed bomber

Posted by Martin Balerdi On October - 5 - 2009

A leather bomber jacket is a great add to a wardrobe, great for cruising and great for hanging out at the local beer garden. I would go so far as to say that any man’s wardrobe is incomplete without a great looking leather jacket. This jacket is reminiscent of the classic “bad boy” look, but has a real  touch of genuine style as well. Rag & Bone might not be the only ones bringing the bomber jacket back for this spring season, but they are the ones who are doing it with the most flair. The chest pockets alongside the great distressed leather really give this jacket an appealing vintage feel, which is almost always a plus for me.

Rag & Bone Leather Bomber

Bomber jackets are making a comeback this spring and this jacket is really setting the bar up high. I like the fact that the light weight of the jacket makes it ideal for slightly cool days and nights, which also makes it ideal for cruising around on a bike. Jackets like these are worth owning, and if you can’t own it, worth coveting. I mean, this jacket is way nicer than anything Arthur Fonzarelli would’ve whipped out.
